Mia Kulba is a rare gem whose stylized vocal performances have impressed Winnipeg Music Festival adjudicators since a young age. For the past ten years Mia won top honours for her performances with 'Gold and Best of Class' awards in the Italian Art Song, Gilbert & Sullivan, Musical Theatre and Soprano Solo categories.

Bent on defining and refining her vocal styling and musicianship, Mia pursued her studies with vocal coach, Helga Anderson, B.Ed. Music, MRMT of the University of Manitoba, School of Music, who prepared her for Royal Conservatory of Music vocal exams where she achieved some of the highest marks in Canada. Mia is a graduate of Vincent Massey Collegiate with a Certificate in Performance. Her unique performance and vocal style caught the attention of Producer / Directors of Rainbow Stage and Manitoba Opera who cast her in their productions of The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Carmen, and La Boheme.

Mia's taste and enjoyment of many genres of popular music led her to start honing her songwriting skills. At the tender age of 14, Mia traveled across North America writing with award winning songwriters from Nashville, NYC, LA to Toronto. Her goal, to create music that isn't disposable has taken shape and now, a little older and wiser, at age 18, Mia has been co-writing with Jeff Trott in L.A. Trott, a well known hit writer with Sheryl Crow (If It Makes You Happy, My Favorite Mistake, Santa Monica Blvd.) is a Nettwerk Producer (Sheryl Crow, Counting Crows, Stevie Nicks, Jeremy Toback).

Working with a variety of hit songwriters has seen Mia's music take on an interesting edge. Sort of like Michelle Branch meets the Dixie Chicks with solid instrumentation but the emphasis continues to be squarely on Mia's dynamic vocal capabilities. Mia Kulba sounds mostly like AAA, Americana, Alternate Country pop. On the song placement side of life, the years not over yet and 18 year old Mia has already had songs placed in Falcon Beach (Magazine Blue), Queer as Folk (Lemon and Lime), CTV television series the Eleventh Hour (Love Songs). Her song 'Just Like January' will be released by Canadian Idol winner, Melissa O'Neil on her debut album in November.

Determined not to sit on the sidelines writing hit songs for someone else, the Mia Kulba band performs original material, delivering a rich audio sound and visually stimulating live show. The world loves music and real artistry and Winnipeg starlet, Mia Kulba and her band deliver tunes that are catchy and radio-friendly. Don't let anyone put Mia Kulba into a genre demographic classification box. Her ability to sing anything live as well as she does in the studio is an art form in itself.

Mia Kulba, 'aura enriched' with musical artistry.
